French Music Holidays
Chris and I will be giving a Classical Guitar Course this summer at the Chanterelle Music Centre, France. Set in beautiful countryside, Chanterelle is in the Poitou Charente in Southwest France. It is in two small farms (fermettes) that have been joined together to create space for music making.

D’Addario at the GFA
D’Addario at the GFA from Mark Eden on Vimeo.
Chris and I met up with Hugh Gilmartin (D’Addario Artist Relations Manager) at the Guitar Foundation of America (GFA) International Convention vendors’ fair in Ithaca NY. The GFA Convention is a huge mecca for those who are involved in the guitar world, and we took this opportunity to talk to Hugh about what D’Addario have been up to as well as their plans for the future, and also find out about some new and exciting D’Addario products.

Koshkin “Concertino” played by Eden Stell Guitar Duo from Mark Eden on Vimeo.
A video of us performing Nikita Koshkin’s ‘Concertino’ at the Guitar Society of Toronto in 2000. Had to upload this onto Vimeo as it’s over 10 mins so couldn’t put in on YouTube. Hope you like it. Mark

Jackdaws - guitar, food, friends, and more guitar!

Chris and I have just come back from the Jackdaws Guitar Ensemble Weekend and I’m feeling refreshed and re-invigorated! Spring has most certainly sprung at Great Elm in Somerset. The sun shone, daffodils were in abundance, the birds were singing - and the guitarists? Well - they were all inside playing like their lives depended on it!

‘Marksterclass’ for HAGO

If you ever want to hear (and see) or be reminded why ensemble playing gives some players such a kick, them you couldn’t do much better than go to a HAGO concert. HAGO (Hampshire Guitar Orchestra) are a fun loving guitar ensemble who perform to raise money for worth causes. Their repertoire is entertaining and performed with such commitment and energy that they create an amazing musical presence - and they’re only 10 years old!
