A video of us performing Nikita Koshkin’s ‘Concertino’ at the Guitar Society of Toronto in 2000. Had to upload this onto Vimeo as it’s over 10 mins so couldn’t put in on YouTube. Hope you like it. Mark

Jackdaws – guitar, food, friends, and more guitar!

Chris and I have just come back from the Jackdaws Guitar Ensemble Weekend and I’m feeling refreshed and re-invigorated! Spring has most certainly sprung at Great Elm in Somerset. From Lulworth – a new guitar ensemble piece by Chris Stell for Jackdaws

News item
It has been my pleasure over the last few years to be involved in various guitar festivals both as a player and a teacher, and it is these festivals that have been the impetus for me to write my own music. ‘From Lulworth’, which was inspired by a walk I took recently between Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door, was written during March expressly for the Jackdaws Guitar Ensemble Weekend coming soon 27-29 of March. The piece is Baroque in style, using cross-string trilling and ground bass. My idea was to provide a piece that was satisfying to play, challenging musically as well as technically, but that could be learned and performed within the space of a weekend. Chris.

Eden Stell perform in support of New Artist’s Scheme at Worcester Classical Guitar Society

Mark and Chris – the Eden Stell Guitar Duo – gave a concert for the Worcester Classical Guitar Society (WCGS) on Saturday night (7th March) at the Worcester Arts Workshop. Now that the WCGS have recently acquired charitable status they are planning more NAS concerts for 2009 and 1020. [Read more →]
