Jackdaws guitar ensemble weekend, 27-29 March

It’s that time again when Chris and I direct our Jackdaws weekend ensemble course in Great Elm, just outside Frome, Somerset.  We have been giving this short course for over 10 years, and it provides a cost effective chance for classical guitar enthusiasts of any ability to get their guitar-fix at a time of year when there isn’t much else going on in the guitar world.  This year our ensemble course is a little later in the year than usual (normally either in December or January) and runs from Friday, 27th March starting at 6.30pm with supper to Sunday, 29th March finishing at 4pm with tea. Eden Stell play final tour concert in Toronto

Saturday 14th of February saw the final concert of what has been a very exiting mini tour for the Eden Stell Guitar Duo.  The concert was for the Guitar Society of Toronto and took place at the Heliconian Club – a wonderful venue for the guitar. The duo performed to an enthusiastic capacity audience receiving another standing ovation. The concert was filmed by Eli Kassner and highlights will soon be available to view on YouTube. Read more

New York debut at NYCCGS

The Eden Stell Guitar Duo were delighted to finally make their debut in New York under the auspices of the New York City Classical Guitar Society (NYCCGS). The Baruch Performing Arts Centre provided the Duo with a wonderful venue to perform in and the NY audience reacted warmly to the programme finishing with a standing ovation.  Read more

Eden Stell Guitar Duo class at the Manhattan School of Music

During this part of their tour the Duo gave a class to guitar students studying at the Manhattan School of Music which was organised by Professor David Leisner. This class was exclusively for Duos and there were performances of music by Scarlatti, Granados, Piazzolla and Castelnuovo-Tedesco. After the class Mark and Chris headed for Times Square to soak up the Manhattan atmosphere.

Trouble free class and concert at St Catherines

The Eden Stell Guitar Duo gave an informal class for guitarist from the St Catherines area where students performed in a tightly packed room at Jonathan Earp‘s house.  The concert in the evening was made all the more special because nothing went wrong with any of the duos equipment.  The loop station problems from the previous night at KWCMS seemed to have mysteriously disappeared and normal service resumed. The evening concert took place for  Guitar Niagara in St Barnabas Anglican Church which has a beautiful acoustic. Read more
