Eden Stell masterclass at Conservatoire de musique de Gatineau, Ottawa

Mark and Chris were really impressed with the committed performances from the guitar students of the University of Ottawa, Conservatoire de musique de Gatineau, and Cambrian College de Sudbury who all responded so positively to musical ideas and suggestions in their class.  Some noteworthy performances included the trio of two guitars and violin who performed Clarice Assad’s ‘Ad. Lib.’ from her ‘Three Sketches’, and the young precocious talented guitarists who performed Leo Brouwer’s guitar quartet ‘Cuban Landscape with Rain’.

The first full day of the Alla Grande Guitar Festival concluded with another performance by Louis Trépanier of Malcolm Arnold’s Serenade for Guitar and Strings with the Ottawa University Orchestra.  Other items in the programme were orchestral works by Haydn, Mozart, and Greig.  A fantastic concert!

No picture I’m sorry to say as I managed to reformat the SD card, but I will try to get a photo from some of the audience members if I can and add it to this mini-blog soon.

Just to keep you up-dated, Chris’ guitar is currently having emergency repair work and will be OK for tonights concert. Mark.
